Hingham in February, not quite as pretty as December when the ride down Route 228 into Hingham Center is flanked by historic homes most of which have electric candles in each window. In December, with the holiday decorations a glow, Norman Rockwell would have been proud. But it is February, and it has been snowing since just after Christmas, and it is winter in New England, and the weather does what it does, so we asNew Englanders complain about it.
Sorry, I got side tracked with the weather. However the weather did not put forth a hurdle to the market for single family homes for sale in Hingham. The Hingham real estate market seems to have found its mojo and appears to be rebounding from the lows of the times during the financial markets crisis.
This past January we saw twenty single family homes sell at an average selling price of $744,833. This is a favorable comparison to the 18 single family homes that sold in January of 2010 at an average selling price of $784,528. Similar numbers can be seen by looking at the mean selling price which was roughly $595,000 last month, and was nearly $630,000 in the January of the year prior.
What we are seeing, is that the volume of transactions is increasing, and the prices are holding steady, given the appropriate standard of deviation for a month over month comparison. If I can answer any additional questions about Hingham, and the homes for sale in Hingham, I would welcome the inquiry.
